What is nearshore customer service?

Nearshore customer service is customer support run by a team in a nearby country whose working day overlaps yours. For a US company that means the Caribbean and Latin America, where local time sits within an hour or two of US Eastern and Central time. The agents answer your customers on their own daytime shift, and their supervisors are awake at the same time.

Onshore agents share your clock and cost the most per hour. Far-offshore agents in Manila or Mumbai can cost less per hour, but US business hours fall overnight there. Nearshore sits between the two on price and matches onshore on hours. If you want the general case for the model, read what nearshore outsourcing means; for which support work to hand over and which to keep in-house, see customer support outsourcing.

Which countries, and which US hours they cover

Call Force Global contracts agents in six countries. None of them uses daylight saving time, so their overlap with the US moves by an hour when US clocks change.

Call Force Global delivery countries for nearshore customer service, with time zone, language, and local time when it is 9 a.m. in New York.

GuyanaUTC-4English9 a.m.10 a.m.
BelizeUTC-6 (Central Standard)English7 a.m.8 a.m.
ColombiaUTC-5Spanish; agents work in English and Spanish8 a.m.9 a.m.

From March to November, Jamaica and Colombia run on the same clock as Chicago, and Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana run on the same clock as New York. From November to March, Jamaica and Colombia match New York. Belize matches Chicago in winter and runs an hour behind it in summer. A queue that stays open until 5 p.m. Pacific closes at 7 or 8 p.m. in Jamaica, which is an evening shift for the agent rather than an overnight one.

English is the official language in Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize and Guyana. Colombian agents work in English and Spanish on the same shift, which is how Spanish-language queues are covered.

What nearshore customer service covers

One agent can hold several channels, taking calls at peak hours and working the inbox between them.

  • Voice. Inbound support lines, callbacks, order, billing and account questions. On the $12 Staffed Desk calls run on your phone system; from the $13 Scored Desk up they run on CFG's dialer, with recording.
  • Email and tickets. Queue work inside your helpdesk, answered against your macros and knowledge base.
  • Chat and messaging. Live chat on your site or app, handled in the same helpdesk as email.
  • Escalations. Tier 3 technical work, refunds above your limit and anything that requires a license stay with your team, reached by warm transfer or an escalation queue.

Every contact gets QA. There is 100 percent AI QA on every ticket, and on every call from the $13 Scored Desk up; on the $12 Staffed Desk your dialer holds the recordings and the call scoring stays with you. Human QA review, coaching and supervision are part of every rate. For a deeper look at running the three channels on one customer record, see the nearshore omnichannel guide.

What nearshore customer service costs

Dedicated seats are priced by the hour on three desks. The desk decides whose systems the agent works on and how much of the stack CFG runs.

Call Force Global nearshore customer service rates by desk, 2026.
DeskRate, all-inWhat it adds
Staffed Desk$12 an hourA dedicated agent on your phone system and helpdesk. You hold call recordings and call scoring.
Scored Desk$13 an hourThe Staffed Desk plus CFG's dialer, call recording and 100 percent AI QA on every call.
Open Desk$14 an hourThe Scored Desk plus a reporting portal built to the KPIs you already report on.
Regulated or out-of-hoursUp to $18 an hourHealthcare and other regulated work, and overnight, weekend or 24/7 coverage.

Every rate covers agent pay, supervision, coaching, QA review, recruiting, IT support and reporting. There is no setup fee and no annual prepay. A 6-month term takes $0.50 an hour off the rate and a 12-month term takes $1.00 off.

That is about 50 to 75 percent less than a US seat. Our estimate puts a fully loaded US customer service seat at $35 to $48 an hour, built on the BLS median wage of $21.53 an hour for customer service representatives (May 2025) plus benefits, supervision, facilities and technology. For low volume, below about 300 calls or interactions a month, a shared answering tier at $300 to $1,500 a month usually costs less than a dedicated seat. The full rate card is on the pricing page.

The Pilot Month

Most programs start with the Pilot Month: an intro month on a live queue, from one agent, billed at the normal rate for the desk you choose. Two agents for 160 hours each on the $12 Staffed Desk come to $3,840. After the month it rolls on month to month on 30 days' notice, and you keep the playbook either way.

How fast a nearshore customer service team goes live

Standard programs go live 7 business days after a completed kickoff. Healthcare and prior-authorization programs take 10 business days, because the BAA and system access take longer to set up. The clock starts when the kickoff is complete, meaning scope, helpdesk access, knowledge base and escalation rules are in hand, and it pauses while CFG waits on your access or approvals.

In those seven business days CFG selects agents from its trained bench, trains them on your product, macros and escalation rules, and calibrates QA scoring with you on sample contacts before the first live shift. Shared answering tiers go live in 5 to 7 business days.

Who the agents are

CFG agents are remote contractors who work from home in all six countries. Each one is dedicated to your program rather than to a shared queue, certified by CFG on your scripts and workflows before the first live contact, and supervised online. A named ops manager runs the weekly review of QA, CSAT and staffing with you.

If an agent does not hold your quality bar, CFG replaces them within 5 business days from the trained bench, at no charge. You keep the customer relationship, the policies and the final say on escalations.

Nearshore or offshore for customer service?

Offshore teams in the Philippines or India can quote lower hourly rates, and what you give up is overlap. Manila is 12 hours ahead of New York from March to November and 13 hours ahead in winter, and Mumbai is 9.5 to 10.5 hours ahead, so US business hours fall on their night shift, and a supervisor question at 2 p.m. in New York reaches someone at 2 a.m.

Nearshore agents answer on their own daytime, which matters most for voice queues, same-day callbacks and escalations that need your team and the agent on the line together. If the work is asynchronous back-office processing with no customer waiting, offshore can be the cheaper fit, and it is worth pricing both. For voice-only programs, nearshore call center services covers the call center side in more depth.

Frequently asked questions

What is nearshore customer service?
Nearshore customer service puts dedicated agents in time zones close to the US so they answer during your business hours. Call Force Global contracts remote agents in Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Guyana and Colombia, including bilingual English-Spanish agents. Dedicated seats run $12, $13 or $14 an hour by desk, up to $18 for regulated or out-of-hours work, and go live 7 business days after a completed kickoff. The Pilot Month starts from one agent and rolls month to month on 30 days' notice.
Where are nearshore customer service agents located?
Call Force Global contracts remote agents in Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Guyana and Colombia. All six sit between UTC-4 and UTC-6 and none uses daylight saving time, so a normal local day shift overlaps US Eastern and Central business hours. Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize and Guyana are English-speaking countries, and Colombian agents work in English and Spanish.
How much does nearshore customer service cost?
Dedicated nearshore agents cost $12 to $18 an hour at Call Force Global: $12 on the Staffed Desk (your phone system), $13 on the Scored Desk (CFG's dialer, call recording and 100 percent AI QA on every call) and $14 on the Open Desk (plus a reporting portal built to your KPIs). Regulated or out-of-hours work runs up to $18. Every rate covers agent pay, supervision, coaching, QA review, recruiting, IT support and reporting.
Is nearshore customer service cheaper than hiring in the US?
Usually, by about 50 to 75 percent. A dedicated nearshore seat at $12 to $18 an hour compares with our estimate of $35 to $48 an hour for a fully loaded US customer service seat, built on the BLS median wage of $21.53 an hour for customer service representatives (May 2025) plus benefits, supervision, facilities and technology.
How fast can a nearshore customer service team go live?
Standard programs go live 7 business days after a completed kickoff, and healthcare or prior-authorization programs take 10 business days. Shared answering tiers go live in 5 to 7 business days. The clock pauses while CFG waits on your system access or approvals.
Can nearshore agents support Spanish-speaking customers?
Yes. Colombian agents work in English and Spanish on the same shift, which suits US companies with Spanish-speaking customers in Texas, Florida, California or Arizona. Bilingual seats sit on the same $12 to $18 desk ladder; ask for them in the quote.
Do nearshore customer service agents work from a call center?
No. Call Force Global agents are remote contractors who work from home in all six countries. CFG recruits, certifies and supervises them online, and a named ops manager runs your program with you.
How is nearshore customer service different from customer support outsourcing?
Customer support outsourcing is the decision to hand support work to a provider. Nearshore customer service is one way to deliver it: agents in nearby time zones who cover US hours on their own daytime shift. The customer support outsourcing page covers what to outsource and what to keep in-house; this page covers where the agents are, which hours they cover and what the seats cost.
How does the Pilot Month work?
It is an intro month on a live queue, from one agent, billed at the normal rate for the desk you choose. Two agents for 160 hours each on the $12 Staffed Desk come to $3,840. After the month it rolls on month to month on 30 days' notice, or moves to a 6- or 12-month term at $0.50 or $1.00 an hour off.
